Does Scout replace ESP+, SAGE, or my CRM?
No. Scout is a companion to the tools you already run, and it is deliberately not a replacement for any of them.
What Scout does not do
- Product search and supplier directories. Scout does not search product, build presentations, or maintain a supplier catalogue. Your industry research subscription keeps doing that, and Scout does not read it today.
- Being the system of record. Your CRM owns your pipeline. Your accounting system owns your money. Your mailbox owns your correspondence. Scout reads them and never writes to them, which means none of them can be made wrong by something Scout did.
- Order entry. Scout does not create quotes, sales orders, or purchase orders.
What Scout adds that none of them do
Every tool in your shop is excellent at its own slice and blind to the others. Your accounting system knows an invoice is unpaid but not that the customer replied last Tuesday asking for a revised proof. Your supplier's portal knows a ship date moved but will not tell your rep. Scout is the layer that reads across all of them and raises the one list of things that need a person today — with the thread, the invoice, or the calculation attached.
That is the whole product: a system of understanding on top of your systems of record.
About CRM connections
A CRM connection is described in the Connections category as coming soon, and it is not available today. When it arrives it will be read-only like everything else. In the meantime, Scout reads the quote documents you sent from your mailbox, which is why the quote-related Watches work without a CRM connected.
