Which browsers and devices does Scout support?

Scout is a web application. You sign in at its address in a browser, and there is nothing to install.

Desktop

Use a current version of a mainstream browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox. Scout is built and checked against current releases, so keeping your browser updated is the only requirement worth stating. A wide window helps: the Inbox puts the list and the selected item's evidence side by side, and that is more comfortable above roughly 1,200 pixels.

Phone and tablet

The Scout Inbox at phone width, with items stacked in a single column and navigation at the bottom of the screen.

Every page reflows to phone width. Items stack into one column, navigation moves to the bottom of the screen, and the settings sections stay reachable. It is genuinely usable for the two things people do on a phone — reading the morning brief and acting on one item — rather than a shrunken desktop layout.

There is no separate mobile application today. Add Scout to your home screen if you want it one tap away.

The other two places Scout reaches you

  • Email. Your morning brief and item update notifications render as plain text as well as formatted HTML, so they read correctly in any mail client. Scout does not use tracking pixels, and images are embedded rather than fetched from the internet.
  • Slack. If your workspace has connected Slack and you have linked your account, you can claim, handle, dismiss, follow, and hide items straight from a direct message — including from the Slack mobile app. See Acting on items from Slack.

Good to know

  • Scout refreshes in place while a page is open, so you do not need to reload to see new items or watch one settle.
  • Every view has its own address. You can bookmark a client on the Map or a particular Inbox scope.
  • If a page looks wrong, a hard refresh is the first thing to try. If it persists, tell support which browser and version you are using.
