An item disappeared — where did it go?
Nothing in Scout is deleted, so it is somewhere. There are six ordinary explanations, roughly in order of how often they turn out to be the answer.
1. Scout closed it on evidence
The reply landed, the invoice cleared, the supplier acknowledged the purchase order. Scout settles the item itself, writes a receipt naming the evidence, and notifies whoever was working it. Look in Settled, filtered by items closed on evidence.
2. It lapsed
An item that passed its due date, was never claimed, and stayed visible for ten business days moves to the Lapsed shelf. Your morning brief reports how many lapsed in the last seven days. Claim to revive brings one back. See Lapsed items and the Lapsed shelf.
3. You hid it
Hide removes an item from your own view and nobody else's. It is not a closure and it is reversible — the item is still open for your team.
4. An administrator muted it for everyone
An Owner or Admin can mute an item for the whole workspace with a reason. It appears in Settled marked as muted. Scout keeps watching the underlying question; it has just stopped raising it. Reopening a muted item needs an Owner or Admin. See Mute for everyone.
5. Its due date moved outside the window
The Inbox looks ahead 30, 45, or 60 days depending on your workspace setting. If new evidence pushed a due date past that horizon, the item drops out of the live list until the date comes into range. Work with no due date stays visible regardless.
6. Someone claimed it, or it was reassigned
Once a teammate claims something it shows as theirs, and if it moved to a team you do not belong to it leaves your view. Owners and Admins can find it on the All scope.
