Workspace settings (General)

Settings → Workspace → General holds the handful of settings that describe your workspace and change how the Inbox behaves for everybody in it. An Owner or Admin can change them; Members and Viewers see the same page read-only.

Change a workspace setting

  1. Open Settings → Workspace → General. As an Owner or Admin you land here by default when you open Settings.
  2. Edit the fields you need. Inbox window and Reminder delay are button rows — choose one and it becomes the selected option.
  3. Choose Save changes.

If you are a Member or a Viewer the fields are locked and the page tells you who to ask, naming the Owner: "Only an Owner or Admin can change workspace details."

About the Inbox window

The Inbox shows one rolling window of work rather than everything that exists. The window is how far forward it looks: at 45 days, an item due in three weeks is in the list and an item due in three months is not — it appears as its date comes closer. Looking backwards, an overdue item that nobody claims stays visible for ten business days before it lapses onto the Lapsed shelf.

Changing the window changes what everyone in the workspace sees, so it is worth one conversation. Choose 30 days if your work is mostly short-turn reorders, 60 days if you quote long lead-time programs and want them in view early. See How the Inbox is organized.

Mailbox processing priority

This same section carries the mailbox processing priority panel. Your plan includes an allowance of mailboxes Scout reads in full; the panel lists each connected mailbox with an honest state — Reading messages, or Basic details only with the reason attached — and lets you reorder them so the allowance is spent on the mailboxes that matter most. The allowance itself is not editable here; reordering is. See Mailbox processing priority.

Deleting a workspace

At the foot of the page, Owners see Delete this workspace: "Permanently delete name and its workspace data. You must keep at least one other active workspace." The button is Delete workspace. This is the only place in Scout where data is destroyed rather than archived, and it is deliberately available to the Owner alone. An Admin does not see it.

Good to know

  • Your own time zone and the workspace's default time zone are two different settings. The workspace one is what deadlines are measured against; yours decides when your morning brief lands. Set yours on Your profile.
  • Where Settings opens depends on your role: Owners and Admins land on General — or on Teams when Scout has team proposals waiting — and Members and Viewers land on People & roles.
  • Workspace settings are saved under a version check. If someone else changed the page while you had it open, your save is refused rather than quietly overwriting their change; reload and try again.
  • The reminder delay here is the shared setting that Scout's follow-up watches use. The per-watch thresholds live on their own page — see Configuring Watches.
  • Your plan's allowance of mailboxes, connections, and supplier feeds is shown on the Plan page, not here. See Plan and billing.
